Hi, I'm Jan, and back in August of 2015, I was only about a month and a half into a new pastry chef gig at a little bakery in Queen Anne when my manager/boss at the time (who has become a very good friend) introduced me to the most intriguing (at least to me) world of buttercream flower work. Believe it or not, the only cake decorating experience I ever really had at the time was very limited, so when Jasmin (my manager/boss/friend) approached me with a piping bag filled with purple buttercream and asked me if I've ever piped a rose before, I was a little hesitant. I watched her pipe the most beautiful flowers onto a cute little birthday cake and was instantly sold. She handed me the piping bag and I tried to mimic her as best I could, and the more I piped, the better the flowers started to look.
Fast forward to now, I've completely fallen in love with the art of buttercream flower cakes. I cannot count the numerous opportunities I have had to really hone in on my skills and perfect the art of piping a perfect flower.
So, going back to August of 2015, on that beautifully fateful day with my awesomely talented friend Jasmin, I discovered a passion. A passion that keeps on giving, and keeps on growing, and keeps on fueling a fire that I pray never extinguishes.
Praise God for new beginnings...
